Host Country Information

From 3-5 November 2009 and in cooperation with the United Nations Environment Programme, Morocco organises in Marrakesh the 16th meeting of the Contracting Parties to the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean and its Protocols (Barcelona Convention).

The Conference takes place at a time when the region witnesses a new regional cooperation effort within the framework of the Union for the Mediterranean, and it will host some 200 delegates from Governments, civil society and the private sector.
The ministerial segment will focus on "climate change in the Mediterranean: challenges and experiences".
